OSB (oriented strand board) is sold in fixed 2440 × 1220 mm sheets and is widely used for sheathing, subfloors, hoarding and crates. Because it is cheap per sheet, the temptation is to cut by eye — but on a multi-sheet job the offcut adds up fast. Strand direction
OSB has an oriented strand face that gives it directional strength. For structural parts (joists, bracing) keep the long axis aligned with the strands by turning off “Allow rotating parts”. For non-structural panels, leave rotation on for a tighter layout.
