Melamine and pattern direction
Melamine-faced chipboard (MFC) and particleboard are the workhorses of flat-pack furniture. Unlike raw MDF, decorative melamine often has a woodgrain or linear pattern that must run the same direction across a finished unit. When that matters, turn off “Allow rotating parts” so the optimizer keeps every panel upright — the layout will use slightly more material, but your doors and sides will match.
Cutting clean melamine edges
Melamine chips easily. A fine-tooth blade and correct kerf setting reduce breakout; enter your real kerf (3–4 mm) so part spacing is accurate. The calculator below shows the full cutting plan, sheet count and waste before you commit a board.
